ORAL PRESENTATIONS 112341 - Councilperson Barb Krizek reported that next week's council meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 1999 at 7:00 p.m. instead of Monday evening because of the 4°h of July holiday. Robert Sieglaff, 914 West Third Street, stated that he has not gotten an answer from the city on his suggestion to institute even/odd parking on city streets. Mayor Rooff stated that the Sign & Traffic Department does not feel that odd/even parking will work for the city and feels we now have a good system. Prior to a vote on the above motion, the following comments were heard. Councilperson Jordan stated that he supports Mayor Rooff's veto of the ordinance, and that if the motion is defeated he would like to see a committee formedto give citizens a chance to tell the council what salary they would like. Councilperson Murphy stated that he feels strongly that the Mayor needs a raise whether he wants one or not because of all he has done for the city. Councilperson Murphy stated that it is important to compensate the position, not just for Mayor Rooff. Councilperson Murphy stated .that he hopes in the future to attract quality candidates. Following discussion a vote was taken on the above motion, with the following result. Ayes: Three. Nays: Getty, Murphy,Jordan. Absent: Collier. Motion failed. Councilperson Getty stated that he and Dr. Gronen wouldlike to get started on appointing a review committee. Councilperson Gettyaskedthat within a week each Councilperson submit two names to him and Dr. Gronen, and they will select five names from the list to look at what other cities are doing and bring back a recommendation to the council.
