ORAL PRESENTATIONS 112307 - Jerry Shatzer, 1829 West 7Ch Street, stated that he read in the Waterloo Courier the Mayor's idea to hire a city manager, and he thinks a city manager position would attract businesses to the city. Mr. Shatzer commented that a city manager is the way to go as it takes politics out of decision making. Mr. Shatzer stated that he hated to see the city appoint an advisory committee to review the mayor and council's salaries as the advisory committee usually recommends in favor of the people who appoint them. Mr. Shatzer urged the mayor to proceed with appointment ofa city manager as he feels businesses that are looking at locating in small- towns look at the city's form of government. Councilperson Krizek stated that she received a letter from the commander of The USS Sullivan thanking the City of Waterloo for their hospitality during his recent visit.
