Prior to a vote on the above motion, the following comments were heard. Councilperson Jordan asked if the city is working with businesses that will be affected by the no parking along one side of Black Hawk Street. Don Temeyer, City Planner, stated that not all the business owners are satisfied with the proposed change to the parking along Black Hawk Street. There are some business owners who would like to keep parking on the street. Mr. Temeyer commented that the other option is to use the sidewalk area along Black Hawk Street for the bike trail, which would increase the cost of the project. Mr. Temeyer stated that when the 18th Street bridge is replaced the bike trail would be rerouted to cross over the bridge.
