Ayes: Five. Absent: Budak and Wright. Motion carried. ORAL PRESENTATIONS 90509 - Mayor McKinley announced that the March Employee of the Month is Dean Fagerlind, Superintendent at Byrnes Park. Mr. Fagerlind was nominated as Employee of the Month based on his outstanding service to the community and his qualities as Park Superintendent. Councilperson Angel stated that she had recently attended a program at West Intermediate with some children that had a learning disability. Angel stated that they had produced a tape selling Waterloo and that a copy of it had gone to the State of California. Ms. Angel stated that she was very impressed with the experience that she had. Mayor McKinley stated that the sports complex is coming along. He had solicited the help from Kathy Oberle to spearhead a fund raising celebrity auction. Carroll Weiden of 143 Mohawk questioned the status of Operation Pride. Mayor McKinley responded that Operation Pride was alive and well but had a shortage of funds this current year. McKinley stated that they presently have three full-time employees and many service organizations in the community volunteering for community efforts. McKinley stated that as part of the Operation Pride a new weed ordinance will be coming to Council on June 15, putting more enforcement into weed control. Jim Rodemeyer, Personnel Director, stated that approximately $3,000 had been raised towards Operation Pride. Moved by Seeber, seconded by Dowie that the above comments be received and placed on file.
