90918 - Moved by Seeber, seconded by Wright
to approve the Class C Beer and Liquor Permit Application for The Other Bar,
115 Sumner Street.
Prior to a vote, the following discussion was heard. Mrs. Rosie Burt stated
that the bar in that area would be a nuisance to the Church with obscene
language, parking problems and broken bottles. Mrs. Burt continued that the
Police had been called to the area while it was the Cycle Inn.
Eva Reed of 1216 East Fourth Street stated that if the bar were allowed to be
open that there would be problems with parking in the alley and blocking the
alley in the area. Ms. Reed stated that it would be in the best interest of
the community to not allow the bar to open.
Councilperson Wright stated that she has had several calls that there were
problems with blocking the alley adjacent to the property at the time the
Cycle Inn was in operation.
Assistant City Attorney Tim Luce stated that the Council would have a right
to question Mr. Lindberg Whitis regarding his participation in the bar. Luce
continued that the Council would have justification in asking Mr. Whitis
questions regarding his participation based on his statements that were made
at a previous Council meeting regarding his participation in this bar.
A vote was taken on the above motion, with the following results. Ayes:
Five. Absent: Dowie, Miller.
