William F. Mclntee", be adopted and City Attorney instructed to

91079 - ORAL PRESENTATIONS
Mayor McKinley stated that tonight was the last Council meeting that
Mr. Bill Sueppel will be attending in the official capacity as
Assistant City Attorney. Mayor McKinley continued that in honor of
that he would like to present to Mr. Sueppel the Certificate of
Participation for his participation in the Partners in Education
Program between the City of Waterloo and Grant School and a
paperweight bearing the emblem of the City of Waterloo. Mayor
McKinley stated that he would hope that when Bill Sueppel is sitting
in front of the Senate Confirmation Committee being questioned for
his position on the Supreme. Court, he would hope that Bill would
keep the City of Waterloo in mind.
Councilperson Seeber stated that he wanted to wish Bill well in his
future endeavors, plus he would hope that Bill remembers his two
season tickets to the Iowa Football Games.
Councilperson Dowie presented Mr. Sueppel a copy of the Massage
Technician Ordinance that Mr. Sueppel played a strong role in
developing.
Mayor McKinley stated that he would like to read a proclamation
proclaiming the week of October 4, 1987 as Chess Players Week.
Dick King, the Iowa representative for the American Public Works
Association, asked Mayor McKinley to present the American Public
Works Association Samuel A. Greeley Local Government Service Award
to Alvin Roy Weisert in recognition of his long and faithful service
in the employment of the City of Waterloo for a period of thirty-two
years.
Mayor McKinley asked Mr. Weisert to step forward to receive his
award.
Councilperson Angel stated that she would like to take this
opportunity to express her appreciation to the City staff for their
efforts in solving any problems that may have existed in the
reconstruction of Stephan Avenue.
Ernie Boykin, 530 Hope Avenue, stated that she would like to express
her thanks to Bill Sueppel in his efforts in dealing with the
general public on many problems that she has presented to Mr.
Sueppel.
Mayor McKinley stated that he would like to express his appreciation
to all of the City employees who participated in the City Auction
sale that took place Saturday, September 26, 1987. Mayor McKinley
continued that the sale netted over $31,000, which is the largest
City Auction to date.
